Types of Borer in New Zealand
Two matter here, and one of them is ours.
Common house borer
(Anobium punctatum)
The usual one. Small round holes about the size of a pinhead in floorboards, framing and furniture, and fine powder underneath them.
Two-toothed longhorn
(Ambeodontus tristis)
A native, and the one that does the structural damage. Larger oval holes, and it goes for untreated pine framing and weatherboards.
